High-resolution monitors remain relatively rare (and are often prohibitively expensive). This is also true in the laptop gaming space, where internal hardware has come down in price but high-resolution panels are still extremely pricey, meaning a lot of manufacturers are turning out powerful portable machines paired with 1080p displays.
Gta 5 4k Hd Vs 1080p
I used the GTA V built-in benchmark tests at 1080p vs 720p, and found that the benchmark results had little difference. In fact, the average fps for 1080p was higher than that of 720p. All other settings were kept the same
I've double checked these results to make sure I didn't get the two mixed up. The 1080p fps performance in terms of minimum, maximum and average were higher than that of the 720p in almost all cases.
Starting with 1080p, every single card, including our VisionTek Radeon R9 270X and GeForce GTX 960 runs the game at more than 60FPS. This completely demolishes the consoles in every way imaginable. Not only are you running GTA V at a higher resolution than the 'next-gen' consoles, but you're doing so at 60FPS average, or more.
The 1080p standard has all but replaced 1080i. You can still find TVs with 1080i screens, but these are less common. Likewise, 4K resolution and UHD have started to replace HD, though you can still find plenty of HDTVs on the market.
Rockstar has made the game a visual treat for the players. In 2013 during the release of GTA 5, resolution cap was at 1080p. Since then the technology has upgraded and the next-gen consoles are capable enough to run games at 4K resolution, running at 60FPS, Rockstar decided that their flagship game needs a revamp too.
The 1080 and 720 in 1080p and 720p stand for vertical screen resolution, or height, in pixels. The more pixels there are in an image, the clearer it will be. As such, a screen resolution of 1920x1080 (two million pixels when multiplied) should appear twice as sharp as a resolution of 1280x720 (fewer than one million pixels). Meanwhile, the p in 1080p and 720p stands for progressive scanning, which updates full frame images more quickly than traditionally interlaced content.
HD DVDs contain 720p content and sometimes 1080p, while all Blu-ray discs contain 1080p content. Regular DVD quality can vary considerably, with some displaying content at a resolution lower than 720p, such as 480p. Moreover, there are still DVD players around that only carry support for up to 480p or 480i, meaning a viewer cannot get the full experience of any high-definition DVD they insert into the player.
Netflix typically streams at 720p, but with the release and expansion of what it calls "Super HD," users are able to stream more and more content at 1080p quality with a high-speed internet connection. Apple TV allows users to choose between 720p and 1080p streaming. DirecTV displays a "1080pHD" logo on 1080p pay-per-view content, and all their latest DirecTV Cinema content is in 1080p. On YouTube and Vimeo, high quality videos often allow for 720p or even 1080p streaming.
Modern smartphones, like the iPhone 5c/5s, the Samsung Galaxy S5, and the HTC One, tend to film at 1080p quality and at 30 frames per second, if not better. Again, resolution is not all there is to picture quality, but for the average user, modern smartphones' video recording capabilities have the potential to be just as good for casual video-making as cheap camcorders.
Screen resolution can be especially important in video gaming. Because there are more pixels in 1080p, less anti-aliasing is required for a smooth visual experience. This means that 1080p will not only likely look better than 720p, but will lead to a better gaming experience overall, as anti-aliasing can slow down a console or computer.
If you want to experience the sprawling city of Los Santos to the absolute fullest on a high-resolution display and with maxed-out ('Very High') graphics settings, despite GTA V being many years old now it can still be a relatively demanding title that will require a beefy system to run flawlessly. That said, on standard full HD (1080p) monitors you won't need much firepower and can get away with a fairly cheap gaming PC build sporting a budget CPU and GPU combo.
If you own a 1080p 60Hz monitor that allows you to see up to 60FPS (or a 75Hz one which are quite common these days and allow for up to 75FPS), these are the modern hardware specs I recommend if you want super smooth 60FPS performance (broken up into low settings and maxed settings).
The popular entry-level gaming CPU, the 3200G, will run GTA V nice and smoothly at 1080p if you don't mind dialing all those graphics settings down to low. It comes with an integrated graphics chip, the Radeon Vega 8, meaning you don't need to purchase a graphics card, saving you a stack of money and allowing you to play modern games like GTA V nice and smoothly (albeit on low settings). If you bump up to its bigger brother, the Ryzen 5 3400G, you get both a faster processor and more powerful graphics chip (Radeon Vega 11) that will allow you to increase visual settings to around medium and still hit 60FPS on average.
For very high settings though, you'll need to bring a discrete graphics card to the mix, with the cheapest modern gaming GPU on the market right now from either NVidia or AMD (GTX 1650 Super or RX 5500 XT) easily allowing for 60FPS and higher at such high settings. There are cheaper cards that will run GTA V decently at 1080p if you plan to buy a used GPU, such as a GT 1030, GTX 1050, or GTX 1050 Ti, but ideally you want to stick to a current gen GPU when upgrading or building a new setup as those cards are getting real old now.
The ideal CPU to maximize frame rates at 1080p is the latest Ryzen 5 5600X, but the cheaper Ryzen 5 3600 or Intel i5 11400/10400 are good enough to get the job done (and are much better value buys for most games). The Ryzen 3 3300X is also worth considering if you find it for significantly cheaper than the 3600 in your region, but the 3600 does typically beat it by 10-20 FPS at 1080p in GTA V judging from various benchmarks.
As for choosing the best gaming GPU for GTA V, for 1080p 144Hz monitors a RTX 3060 or better would be the optimal way to go, especially if you really want to crank those visual settings to very high. Cheaper, older gen cards like the RTX 2060 Super or RX 5700 XT would suffice for lower settings though - even a GTX 1660 Super would be fine for 1080p 144Hz monitors if you sacrifice settings.
As mentioned in the 1080p 144Hz recommendations earlier, a mid-tier processor like the Ryzen 5 3600 or Intel i5 10400 is absolutely fine to get 144FPS in GTA V, no matter the resolution (if a CPU can get 144FPS at 1080p, it can do so at 1440p - see how CPU bottlenecks work if you want to understand this further). From all my research into various CPU/GPU benchmarks of GTAV, the best gaming CPUs on the market like the Ryzen 5 5600X, Ryzen 7 5800X, or Intel equivalents (modern i7 and i9 chips) just aren't necessary to get 144Hz/144FPS in GTA V.
I recently got a 5500XT GPU and a 32 inch Samsung 4K monitor but playing a game like GTA 5 on high settings looks like garbage in 1080p resolution. If i put the game on the full screen resolution i have instead of 1080p, it will probably lag profusely when i blow things up or action starts and i think while standing still my FPS is 45 or maybe even 47 if i am lucky. How can i make it look more crisp on the eye? As it obviously looks a bit pixelated due to it being stretched or can't it be done? As i am really not an expert in this kind of thing to be honest before i get mauled for asking this question lol. I have a RX 5500XT 8GB OC (at default clock speed) 16GB 3000Mhz RAM and a i7-7700K at the default 4.2Ghz. I've also got the latest drivers and Radeon software. Thanks.
Yeah, it is as that card came out in November 2019 according to Google and GTA 5 is an old game now so you don't need an insane rig to play it. I can get over 100 FPS in 1080p on very high settings, the textures etc just look very weird/stretched for obvious reasons and i'm trying to work out how to fix it. Because i play it in the native resolution, i get 40 fps and obviously it will just tank when explosions start. It's also the 8GB card as i said, not the 4GB version.
PC players have been able to play GTA 5 at 4K and 60FPS for some time, but console players on the PS4 and Xbox One were locked at 1080p. Rockstar never added PS4 Pro or Xbox One X support for GTA 5, which meant it still ran at 1080p on both consoles despite the improved capabilities.
Current industry standards advocate 1440p rather than 1080p for most experienced users like gamers. Since the user should sit no closer than three feet (or 90 cm) away from the monitor, we propose a 27 inches wide display with a 240-hertz refresh rate instead of 144 hertz.
In addition, varied viewing distances are considered while designing these resolutions. A 3.2ft distance between your face and a 1080p display is recommended for the best visual quality and most minor strain on your eyes.
So what does this mean for the difference between a 1080p resolution and a 1440p resolution? Well, at 1440p, the image still looks smooth due to the higher PPI. However, because there are three times as many pixels on the display as at 1080p, objects onscreen look noticeably sharper. This is why most monitors with a 1440p resolution also have a higher PPI than those with a 1080p resolution.
Your AMD GPU and CPU work together to produce a higher frame rate, but your native resolution makes it possible. You can get more frames per second on a monitor with a lower resolution, such as refresh rates. There is more pixel density to manage, and more pixels mean a more important job on your GPU; thus, whatever frame rate your system gets at 1080p will be almost half when you raise settings to 1440p.
When it comes to graphics performance, higher resolutions result in smoother textures and crisper images. This is due to the increased number of pixels onscreen at any given time. In general, 1080p provides a more stable framerate than 1440p. However, many games actually perform better on 1440p than on 1080p. 2ff7e9595c
